Growing a Baby

Today  I am 36 1/2 weeks along!  That means only 3 1/2 weeks to go!  And just a few days until Zane is full term!  I had a doctor's appointment today and it went great!  Things are progressing!  She said that Zane's head wasn't down as far as it needs to be so I need to walk.  I've been walking already, 30 minutes every morning, but maybe I should start at night also.

Our prenatal class instructor said that pregnancy is like a marathon, and that is a really great description.  I'm on the home stretch and ready for our baby to be born and the rest to fade into just a faint memory.

We can do this!!!

36.5 weeks!

Poor Little Pumpkin

I was watering yesterday in our backyard and was surprised to see a pumpkin growing in between the fence and the fence post!  Jeff wiggled it out, but we're not sure if it's going to make it!  It definitely has a few problems.
Poor pumpkin!
We have two normal looking pumpkins too.  :-)  I know it's too early to grow pumpkins, but last year we had success and had them ripe by May.  I tried to grow some in the fall, but they didn't grow-it may have been too dry.  Anyway, I was a little late planting them this year, so I'm not sure if I will be picking them before Zane  is born, or if Jeff will!
Pumpkins
We're also trying to grow some cantaloupe.
We put a board under them to try to keep it out of the dirt and bugs.

The Tree is Out!

Sunday afternoon, Jeff worked really hard in the hot sun (about 100 degrees) to get the tree stump out.  I went outside about every 30 minutes to have him come into our "cooling station" where he could drink and cool off a little.  But, he got it done and now he doesn't have to do it today!

I think it looks great where it was and am happy it is gone!

That's $5.00 worth of firewood right there!  :)
Woo hoo!!!

Baby Name!

I've been wanting to make this fabric bunting for awhile now, but had other things to do and kept putting it off.  Saturday morning I decided I would do it!  I had a great time working on it-I think my favorite part was gluing the letters on.

That's right!  Our boy's name is Zane Abel!

Fishing with my hubby!

A week ago, last Thursday, my Jeff and I got to go fishing!  I wanted it to last a long time because it is the last one before our son is born, but we had to come in early because I got really tired.  It worked out just fine though because we had our last prenatal class to go to that night.

It was a gorgeous day.  We couldn't have asked for a better one.  There were hardly any boats out either, which made it really nice because the fish weren't disturbed.  One of the places we went to were some no name lakes in the bay-boy were the fish in there!  Since it didn't have a name and I was catching the fish, we named it Amy Lake.  (Jeff already has a lake named after him.  :-)).  Oh, we had such a good time.

Not such a flattering pic, but hey! that's pregnancy for you!

Baby Shower!

I am so appreciative to the ladies of our congregation that came together and threw a baby shower for our baby.  They absolutely outdid themselves and it was so much fun!  These ladies have so much talent!

Here is the shower in pictures.  I am so thankful that my mom, mother-in-law, and my good friend Lani were able to come and support us.  It would not have been the same without you.  I definitely needed you there.  :-)

All the hostesses!  So many nice ladies!
Fruit bowl!
Really good pond cupcakes with gummy frogs!
Awesome diaper trike!  I loved it!

Me with two wonderful grandmas!!!
Me with Lani!  Really happy she was there!

Matagorda

This weekend we went to see Jeff's parents for Mother's Day and had a wonderful time! On Saturday we took a little drive to the coastal town of Matagorda, TX!  It was my first time, so I got to play tourist.  We drove around looking at houses, walked on the long fishing pier, and ate at a wonderful restaurant on the harbor.
Enjoy the pictures that document our day!
A peacock!  But I couldn't get a picture in the sun.
New bridge going over the intercoastal.
Going over the fancy new bridge!
One day short of 34 weeks!

33 Weeks

Today marks 33 weeks!  I know I've grown because my t-shirts don't fit like they used to!  They are getting snug!  Only 7 weeks to go and it's almost like time is slowing down and taking it's time.  I just want our baby to hurry up and get here!

We started prenatal classes last Thursday and it was very good for us.  There were only four other couples in the class and we discussed pregnancy management and got a show and tell of different tools and instruments that we may see in the labor and delivery room.  I personally am hoping I do not see some of them at all!  But, it was nice to at least know what they are so when/if we do see them, we will have been educated about them.

Jeff is such an awesome husband.  He has started reading sort of a companion book to a book that I read and is really getting into it.  We started practicing relaxation for me during labor and he is making sure I do certain exercises that they recommend.  I'm very happy with his enthusiasm.  :-)  He also said he's coming to my next doctor's appointment armed with questions!
33 Weeks!

He's just so handsome I had to get a picture!

Tortilla Press!

While visiting my in-laws this past weekend, my mother-in-law surprised me with a tortilla press!  I couldn't stand it, so I had to make them today to use in a new recipe I'm trying out.  It worked great!!  I cut the sides off a ziploc and mashed the dough between them so it wouldn't stick.  Let me tell you, it cuts down on the messiness of trying to roll them out!

Thanks Janie!  It's awesome!!!  You are such a thoughtful person!

Sparkling Clean!

We have a shower in our master bath that has clear glass on two sides.  It is so hard to get clean!  I've tried so many different products, it's ridiculous!  Some work better than others, but they all make you try and hide your nose in your shirt when you clean because the smell is so strong, and they are expensive.  I decided after I finished my can of Kaboom! that I was going to try something less expensive, safer, and that I made.  Sort of a home remedy for the shower.  Of course, I looked online and found someone had tried vinegar and dawn dish soap and had great success!  I tried it for the first time yesterday and it worked GREAT!  The smell of vinegar was a little overwhelming at first, but at least I knew it wasn't bad for me.
Two ingredients-that's it!
I made some adjustments to what I found online, but here's what I did.

You need:
1 cup white distilled vinegar
1/4 cup dawn dish soap
Spray bottle

Heat the cup of vinegar in the microwave until it's very warm.
Add 1/4 cup dawn dish soap (the kind I got was ultra concentrated.  If you use regular, maybe add more.)
Shake in a spray bottle.

It's really awesome!  The gallon of vinegar cost about $2.08, and the dawn was $1.07.  Can't beat that!

Have a great day!!!
