Scripture Book

I made Zane his first scripture book today!  I would have liked it to look more professional, but I think it will work just fine for what I want to use it for.  I chose the verses out of a list that I made here.

Zane's first scripture book.  About 5"x5".

Sparkling Clean!

We have a shower in our master bath that has clear glass on two sides.  It is so hard to get clean!  I've tried so many different products, it's ridiculous!  Some work better than others, but they all make you try and hide your nose in your shirt when you clean because the smell is so strong, and they are expensive.  I decided after I finished my can of Kaboom! that I was going to try something less expensive, safer, and that I made.  Sort of a home remedy for the shower.  Of course, I looked online and found someone had tried vinegar and dawn dish soap and had great success!  I tried it for the first time yesterday and it worked GREAT!  The smell of vinegar was a little overwhelming at first, but at least I knew it wasn't bad for me.
Two ingredients-that's it!
I made some adjustments to what I found online, but here's what I did.

You need:
1 cup white distilled vinegar
1/4 cup dawn dish soap
Spray bottle

Heat the cup of vinegar in the microwave until it's very warm.
Add 1/4 cup dawn dish soap (the kind I got was ultra concentrated.  If you use regular, maybe add more.)
Shake in a spray bottle.

It's really awesome!  The gallon of vinegar cost about $2.08, and the dawn was $1.07.  Can't beat that!

Have a great day!!!

Critters!

Much progress has been made on our little boy's room, but there is still stuff to do!  I was so lucky to have my friend Stefanie help me on the crib skirt and sheet, and the changing pad cover!  Thank you Stefanie so much!  I would post a picture here, but I didn't get one of us together!  We should definitely have documented how spread out we were in the living room.  :)  A table, two sewing machines, cutting mat, ironing board...and fabric everywhere!

Today I finished the curtains!  And I am working on a fish mobile that will go over his crib.  I have some pictures done, but I haven't hung them yet.  One I'm really excited about, but need to find pictures.  I want to put both sets of grandparents in it, his uncle, and his other aunt and uncle, and us.  That way he knows his family loves him!  I'll post more pictures when more is done, but I wanted to at least post these.
Curtains are up!

Rocking chair from a lady that used to live in Tioga, ND.  My big plans are to try and add cushions.

Genesis 1:1

I would like to paint the dresser drawers...maybe.
Guest bed and nursery!
There is still more to do, but I think the major stuff is done!

Burp cloths

My friend, Stefanie, told me about this little project using cloth diapers!  She said that they could be used for burp clothes and made a little prettier than just plain white.  I made two before we knew our baby was going to be a boy, and then waited until a couple days ago and made some more boyish ones out of stuff in my fabric stash.  They aren't very frilly-no ribbons, etc. but I think they will work just fine.  I have two more to do and will have a total of 10.  I hope that get lots of use!  :-)
My favorite is the yellow one.

It's kind of hard to be decorative with boy stuff!

Mmmmmmmm....

From this:
Ready for the oven!

To this:
Deliciousness!

M&M Cookies

2 cups plus 2 T all purpose flour
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
12 T unsalted butter, melted and cooled until just warm
1 c brown sugar, packed
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 large egg, plus 1 egg yolk
2 t vanilla extract
1 cup M&Ms

Preheat oven to 325.

Mix dry ingredients together.  Mix butter and sugars together with electric mixer or by hand until thoroughly combined.  Beat in egg, yolk, and vanilla until combined.  Add dry ingredients and beat at low speed until just combined.  Stir in M&Ms by hand.

Take 1 T dough, put on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Put another 1 T dough on top of it.  They will be stacked high.

Bake 15 minutes until light golden brown and outer edges are starting to harden, but the center is still soft and puffy.

Cool cookies before removing from parchment paper.

Ready to eat!

Today I was going to make some chocolate chip cookies, but saw a recipe that had the same cookie recipe that I had already started making, but they used M&Ms!  We just happened to have some so I thought I'd give it a try.  They are so good.
