7 Months!

Wow!  I read books to my baby this morning until he fell asleep for his morning nap.  And then I just looked and looked at his little face.  It has been 7 months since he's been born.  7 months ago this morning I was holding him for the first time.  We love him so much!  And it's so awesome how much more we've gotten to know him!  I love it!

Zane can blow air out of his mouth now, like he's blowing up a balloon, or blowing out a candle, as Grandma Janie says.  He loves making noises with his tongue.  He still loves being sung to, and has really started to scoot and roll all over the place.  He loves to play and fly around with his Daddy, and he loves reading.  He picks up books and toys and eats his food like a champ.  So far, he's had avocado, yellow squash, carrots, green beans, sweet peas, sweet potato, and acorn squash.  I am going to start him on two solid meals a day today!

Clean boy, last night!

He's got blue eyes!

Diaper Bag Refill

Zane's diaper bag was lacking tonight.  I didn't have an extra set of clothes.  Yesterday I did.  Yesterday at the park, he puked all over the car seat and I just changed him with the extra clothes I brought with us.  I was so bummed tonight because we had potluck at church and I made a dewberry cobbler.  I went to change Zane and he got wet all over his side and up his back.  It's not his fault at all-he's a baby!  But, I just wish I had brought a different set of clothes for him!  So, we headed home, Zane got a bath, and I ate a turkey sandwich.  (Jeff is working.)  Let me tell you, Zane is going to be set from now on.  Extra diapers, wipes, bibs, clothes, socks-you know, I might should get a container of store bought baby food, just in case we have a change of plans and Zane needs some solid food.

On to a very positive note...Zane had some floor time tonight and I got some video of him moving around!

Lake Texana

We went on a wonderful family outing today!  We've driven by Lake Texana Park every time we've gone to Bay City, looked at the disc golf course on the side of the road, but we've never stopped.  On the way home the other day, Jeff stopped and checked it out and today we made a day of it!

We left this morning after feeding Zane and got there while it was still cool.  It was so pretty out.  We played disc golf for about two hours.  And only until we were leaving, did another couple show up!  Jeff is really good at playing, me on the other hand-it takes me about three times as many tries as it does Jeff to get my disc in the basket!

Having a great time!

Big Buddy, Little Buddy!

Going for the basket!

We didn't keep score, but I was smoked!

My wonderful, wonderful, wonderful family.  I love them.

After we played disc golf, we went across the highway to Lake Texana Park, paid the $3.00 entrance fee and had a wonderful picnic!  Zane got to try acorn squash for the first time and Jeff and I ate delicious turkey sandwiches that Jeff made.  We had our pick of picnic tables and got to munch away in the shade of a huge tree!

Yummy acorn squash!

More please!

Very happy baby!

My sweet boys in our spot!
We went walking on some trails after lunch.  What a nice park!  We walked a lot through woods and thankfully didn't see any snakes or alligators.  Zane took a snooze on the way too.  He was tuckered out!
Headed down the trail!

Swampy little lake.

Snoozy.

Me and my sweetheart!

Taking a break.

Hi!  I like to take my socks off!

Thursday

This morning, Zane and I went and watered plants.  I've been neglecting the backyard and it is time that it got some attention.  My poor plants, namely my gold star esparanza and my crossandra are just pitiful!  The "cold" and lack of water have taken their toll.  But, they still have some green on them, so I hope if they get some tender loving care, they will spring up and grow their little hearts out.
My little garden helper!

Tomatoes in January, anyone?
Zane has started leaning in or reaching for us!  It is so awesome to know what he wants-that he wants to be closer to us.  He also did something really funny last night.  He was over on his blanket with his toys and I was in the kitchen.  He started crying.  Then, he stopped.  I didn't say anything, just kept working on supper.  So he started again, then stopped.  I looked over there and he was fine! He did this about five times and then just started playing and talking to himself.  It was like he was listening to see if anybody was coming!
Would I do that???

Nah!!  Not me!

My mom gave Zane my fisher price radio that I had when I was a baby/young girl.  He loves it!  We wind it up and he looks and plays with it.  And when it quits, we wind it up some more!  Pretty soon, he'll be winding it up on his own!
Zane with his music box.
Zane favors the blue string, in case you are wondering.
Zane is doing well eating.  This week is still sweet potatoes and next will be acorn squash.  I think he'll be ready to eat two solids a day.  He does so good in his highchair.  I read about teaching a baby highchair manners and I think it's working.  He's pretty good about keeping his hands in his lap.

We had a nice time out on the patio this afternoon too.  I brought Zane's little chair outside and sat him in the shade while I cracked some pecans.  It was windy and warm.  It's hard to believe, but it was in the 90s today.  I took Zane's socks off so his toes could feel the breeze.  :-)  He has tickley tootsies too and would just grin and laugh when I tickled them!

Hope you all had a good day too!
Love,
Amy

Zane Loves Sweet Potato!!!

My little boy got to eat sweet potato today.  He thought it was delicious!  One sweet potato made a bunch of little portions, so it's a good thing he liked it because we have more of it!

My nephew, Elliot, is 4 months old today!  Hard to believe.  He's doing great and so is Amanda!  We are so blessed!

Blessing

I'm thankful we can go and worship God together with family and with all the other brothers and sisters in Christ.  I hope and pray that Zane grows up to be a wonderful Christian servant of God.

I'm an Animal!

Grrrrr!  :-)
Zane does this sometimes!  We'll look at him and he'll have a washcloth just hanging from his mouth!  Today, it was his teether!
Look, Momma!  No hands!

I see a twinkle in his eye!

He's a good lunch entertainer!

Morning playtime!

Star Student

Zane was a star student tonight in Bible class!  I was his teacher, by the way!  :-)  I'm not sure that he thought I was a star teacher though!  I have sat in on his class numerous times, but it's been awhile and it's true that if you don't use it, or in this case haven't listened to it in awhile, you lose it!  I made up so many songs tonight, it was just funny!  But we made it!  I think Zane's teacher must still be sick.  The past couple times, she hasn't made it.  One night, Zane sat with me in the auditorium bible class.  The next time, his Sunday morning teacher taught, and this time I decided to.  I have found some songs online, so I think I'll print them off to go with the props they have and next time I won't be scrambling for a song that goes with a tree or chicken.  We had fun though and he did a really good job.  The pictures aren't the best...I was trying to sing, wave a prop, and take a picture at the same time!

Reaching for the stars that God made!

Wednesday

This is a really beautiful day today.  The sun is shining, it warmed up little bit, and my husband is coming home today!!!
Zane ate peas today!
Had a wonderful time walking and jogging this afternoon!
And lastly, I recommend these treats!  I am limiting myself to one a day.  They are yuuummy!  And, they have zero, ZERO grams of sugar for those of you that are watching sugar intake.  (You know who you are!  :-))

Moving

Zane is moving his knees more!  I think that crawling is in the near future.  I have no idea when, but I know it's coming.  I'm really excited!

Peas!

Sweet Pea green is a lovely color, don't you think?  I made a batch for Zane this morning and thought that it was rather pretty!
Hmmm...I think the color might look more appealing in person!
Here is Zane's first bite of sweet peas!
