Everyday around here is playtime! We've done a lot of inside playing lately because it is just easier with Rachel and it's been raining a ton and there are gobs of mosquitoes. She gets to roll around, crawl, and I know what she's getting into. :) She is 8 months old and loves loves loves to be near Zane. And Zane doesn't necessarily want her to be nearby. He wants to play, but is learning about sharing right now.
The next one is not so pretty, sorry. But it gets better in the one after that! Sharing is being learned!!!
There is many videos of Zane singing and doing lessons in the mornings. He was doing many songs that he knows, but has seems to have switched back to songs of made up words. I don't know why! Maybe because he's 2! That's my answer to most things. :) But he does know that he is two, almost three and will have a birth day in "June on the 29th."
This one I knew..."Ring It Out," but it didn't last long because when he got to speed it away, off he went!
We did go outside for a little bit on Wednesday and I got some video of Rachel's belly laugh. It was the hardest I've ever heard her laugh and it was so wonderful! Of couse, who was she laughing at? Her best brother, Zane!!!
Zane is a great helper. He helped me dry the floors after I swiffered!
Thanks for the swiffer cover, Grandma D!
And here are my two cuties at lunch. When Jeff is gone, Zane wants us to sit by him instead of leaving a place where Jeff usually sits. And usually we happily comply.
A couple weeks ago, three girls came and knocked on our back door and asked if Zane could come out and play. I had already talked with our neighbor and said it was fine, so off he went, holding hands with his friends. It was hard to see him go! I was supposed to be cleaning windows, but I couldn't help but look out the window every 3 seconds to make sure he was okay. Of course he was and I could hear his squeals of delight all the way from the neighbors driveway and into my house. So, I couldn't stand it anymore and fed Rachel and we went over there too. We didn't want to miss out on the fun. :)
Zane is now the proud owner of legos!!!! I saw his cousin, Elliot, playing really well with some legos, so I thought Zane might like some. And of course, Jeff loved playing with legos when he was younger, so I thought it was something they could do together!
Aren't they cute???
We decided that Zane spent some of his Christmas money on these, so THANKS Great-Grandma Louise!!!
This morning, Zane and I went and watered plants. I've been neglecting the backyard and it is time that it got some attention. My poor plants, namely my gold star esparanza and my crossandra are just pitiful! The "cold" and lack of water have taken their toll. But, they still have some green on them, so I hope if they get some tender loving care, they will spring up and grow their little hearts out.
My little garden helper!
Tomatoes in January, anyone?
Zane has started leaning in or reaching for us! It is so awesome to know what he wants-that he wants to be closer to us. He also did something really funny last night. He was over on his blanket with his toys and I was in the kitchen. He started crying. Then, he stopped. I didn't say anything, just kept working on supper. So he started again, then stopped. I looked over there and he was fine! He did this about five times and then just started playing and talking to himself. It was like he was listening to see if anybody was coming!
Would I do that???
Nah!! Not me!
My mom gave Zane my fisher price radio that I had when I was a baby/young girl. He loves it! We wind it up and he looks and plays with it. And when it quits, we wind it up some more! Pretty soon, he'll be winding it up on his own!
Zane with his music box.
Zane favors the blue string, in case you are wondering.
Zane is doing well eating. This week is still sweet potatoes and next will be acorn squash. I think he'll be ready to eat two solids a day. He does so good in his highchair. I read about teaching a baby highchair manners and I think it's working. He's pretty good about keeping his hands in his lap.
We had a nice time out on the patio this afternoon too. I brought Zane's little chair outside and sat him in the shade while I cracked some pecans. It was windy and warm. It's hard to believe, but it was in the 90s today. I took Zane's socks off so his toes could feel the breeze. :-) He has tickley tootsies too and would just grin and laugh when I tickled them!
