Happy New Year!

We celebrated the new year with cookies and cream ice cream milkshakes!  Hope everyone has a wonderful new year!
Happy 2013!

German Apple Pancake

On Sunday evenings after church services, our family tradition at home is to have breakfast food.  A long time ago, Jeff cut out a recipe from the newspaper for a German apple pancake.  I never tried it because you have to have a cast iron pan or something similar that will go into the oven.  For Christmas, Jeff gave me a dutch oven, so I decided to use it and try making the recipe.  I used one online though that you can find here because it had really great ratings.

It was so much fun to make.  I was a little intimidated with the dutch oven because I was afraid I was going to mess it up and that the food was going to stick really badly, but I decided to go for it.  It was awesome!  Jeff helped me get it out of the oven because it's really heavy and it tasted really good-really really sweet-like eating candy!
*Amanda-have you ever eaten or heard of an apple pancake over there?

It was easy to clean up too.  I just had to use hot water and scape the food all off.  No soap because it takes the seasoning off the pan.  Interesting I thought.

First use of our dutch oven!  German Apple Pancake!

It puffed up pretty high!
I'm excited to try more recipes using this new tool!  There seem to be lots online!  :-)
Hope everyone has a great week!
Love to you all!

Bath Time Fun!

Just recently, Zane has started playing while he takes a bath!  I am just amazed that one day he doesn't do something and the next day he does.  God made each day with a growing baby interesting!  Here are some recent bath time pictures.

Rubber ducky, you're the one!

Snuggled in his new blanket!  Thanks Mary Beth!

6 Months Old And Eating Solid Foods

Today, my little boy turned 6 months old!  It is an overwhelming and wonderful feeling to be his mommy.  It's like he's my heart outside my body.  I'm not sure that makes sense, but I am so so so so so proud of him and thankful for him.  He is our joy.

Today was a big day for all of us.  Zane got to try his first solid food today!  I chose an avocado pureed with milk and water.  It was like he'd been eating for months!  It was so cute to see him eat and he loved it.  He sort of sucks the spoon, but with some practice, he'll get it in no time.  After four days of avocado, he's going to get to try yellow squash!  A whole new world of eating is opening up for him.  :-)  Before long, he's going to be fighting his dad for the last piece of pie!  I wonder who will win?!

Look at his little lips!  He's eating that avocado!  :-)

Mmmm!  What's this?

Hi Daddy!  It's yummy!!

A happy baby!
