Because you're never too young to know Jesus

I recently purchased some board books for Zane that are about the Bible.  I am so happy with them!  One is about Noah's Ark.  It's actually the song, so you sing it instead of just reading the words.  Another two are by Debby Anderson-Jesus is With Me and Jesus Loves the Little Children.  Those are also ones that are sung.  And the last two are stories that Jesus told.  One is about the lost sheep and the other is about the prodigal son.  Both are very accurate and at the end tell us how we can apply it in our lives.  The title is on the back of the last two books that are published by Christian Focus Publications.   I don't know which religious group this company is affiliated with, if any, but I do like these little kids books.

Zane loves to read books and has become very good at turning pages!  I hope he continues to develop a love for reading and for God's Word.

6 Month Checkup

Zane had his 6 month check up today and he got another healthy report.  He's 26 inches tall, weighs 17 lbs 1 oz., and has a head circumference of 44 cm.  He has slowed down on his weight gain.  The doctor says that it is still in the acceptable range.  Maybe he's just going to be a skinny little fellow.  I am pretty sure he's getting enough to eat because he doesn't cry out of hunger.  I guess we'll just make sure he's still doing good at his 9 month checkup.

He also had three shots today plus an oral vaccine.  Oh, it is so hard to have him get shots.  He just boo hooed.  It's okay though.  He is going to be a healthy baby!

Today, he tried oatmeal cereal.  That baby cereal is amazing.  It's just teeny tiny flakes!  He gulped it down.  Tonight at supper we were having baked sweet potatoes and he always looks at us with eyes that are yearning for food, so I decided to give him a taste because it was on the first foods list.  It was hilarious.  We should have videoed it.  He probably took about 5 bites and then that was it!  He still looked with longing at our plates but didn't want any more sweet potato!

Ready for more!

He likes his carrots!

Joining us for the first time in his new highchair!

Today I decided to feed Zane his solid food first instead of milk.  I can understand why people recommend feeding milk first (because it is their primary source of calories), but I wanted Zane to show more interest in his food!  So, he tried carrots again and boy howdy, he was into it!  It did not take long for him to clean up his little serving.  He was leaning forward and ready for another bite!  After that, I fed him his milk, and he seemed to drink a lot, so I am happy with how it went.  I finally sat down and figured out when to feed him because I was feeling a bit lost.  When he turns 7 months old, he'll start getting two solid feedings a day, and when he turns 8 months, he'll get three solid feedings a day.  Doesn't seem that hard, I know, but I don't want to mess him up!

Mmmmm, carrots!!!!!!
All cleaned up!  Doesn't he look more like a little boy instead of a baby?
Today after a wonderful, nutritious lunch of carrots and milk, we went for a walk/jog.  I took these after we got back to the house and had taken off his beanie hat and blanket that covered his legs.  I know it's a lot of pictures, but I just love each one.

He was just so happy!  :-)

I had to take a picture of my wonderful boys.  They matched today!  I wish I could have gotten the whole "outfit" because they both had blue shirts and khakis on.  :-)  This was taken right before evening services and when Zane was on his way to be changed because he had spit up all over his shirt.  Oh well!  :-)  That is the life of a baby.  I've noticed though that Zane is doing a lot less spitting up than he used to.
Handsome!

Zane got to try carrots today.  I'm not sure what the deal is.  He just didn't seem very eager until Jeff sat across from him and pretended to eat.  I feed him a little milk before he eats his solid food and then again afterwards.  Perhaps I'm feeding him too much milk so he's not really hungry?  Or maybe I should feed him the solid food first?  Any ideas?  He seems to drink plenty of milk after he eats his solid food.  Also, I don't think I pureed the carrots good enough because for the first time, some of it came back out!  It was funny to see his little tongue pushing it back out.

Zane did great in church today.  I was especially happy with him tonight because he didn't nap and he didn't get too loud!  He made it through Bible class too.  Sundays have been going pretty well, but Wednesday nights he's started crying.  I think it's just because he's tired.  But, his teachers do a great job and I'm happy he can learn from them.

I ordered a high chair for him and I think it's supposed to come tomorrow.  So, I'm sure there will be some pictures of him in it soon!
I'll leave you with a card that a dear friend from Midland sent me when Zane was not too old.  I think it fits especially when I'm trying to figure out the right thing to do for Zane!

Zane and I went shopping today and he got to ride in the cart sitting up for the first time!  I think he liked it a lot!  I tried to take pictures at first, and he was too busy looking at everything else.  :-)  When he got a little tired, I started singing to him, which he loves, and got a good smile.  :-)  I love my little guy.  And thanks Mom for the cart cover!  It works so great!
Cutie Pie this morning!

Busy boy!

Happy boy!  :-)

Reading before Nap time

Zane gets fussy about the same time every morning.  Usually 9:15.  It starts off as a little whine and is pretty much constant until you pick him up.  He loves cuddles especially when he's tired.  We've started a little routine where I ready him four or five books before he goes to sleep for his morning nap.  Jeff took a picture of us and then I took them as our reading time progressed.  :-)  Zane loves being held and read to and is usually pretty content during this time.  I mean, what can beat cuddles with mama, a blanket, and a thumb to suck on?
All set for reading books.

Ooooh, someone is getting sleeeeepy.

His eyes closed a few minutes after this and he went to his little bed.

I really love my reading time with Zane.  It is so much fun to read books to him and know that he is soaking in every word and picture.  For Christmas he got four new books and I enjoyed reading them as much as he enjoyed listening.

I think I might be into something here.  I am really enjoying cooking in my dutch oven!  This afternoon I made dutch oven peach cobbler, and this evening I'm going to make Jalapeno Cornbread!  I can't wait.

Peach Cobbler
In Zane news, he's on day four of avocado, which means tomorrow he gets to experience yellow squash!  Oh boy!  :-)  He did so good today eating.  He just polished it right off!
Little fuzzy-headed eater!  Such a good boy!

Happy New Year!!!
