Things I've Been Doing

Most of my day consists of raising babies and taking care of my family.  And that's okay!  But, here are other things I've been doing.

This weekend I made the best peach dessert ever with fresh peaches.  It was so fun to make and turned out great.  I'll put a link to the recipe but know that I substituted apple juice for the brandy.

Old Fashioned Peach Dumplings

Here are my pictures.
I used the huge peaches from California.  They were too big for one person but I haven't tried them with smaller ones.

Homemade ice cream on the side!
My sister and I sorted through a discussion of the quilts that I posted a week or so ago and this is the one I'm going to keep and quilt!  I've been thinking a little about getting started on it!  I'm excited and really like it alot.  I would like to add to it on the sides in order to make it a good quilt to put on a double bed.  Large enough to cover two people.  Nobody likes to have to tug for some covers!  :)

Recently we went to visit my in-laws and unexpectedly got to drive John's John Deere tractor!I was really quite surprised he asked and the first and second time and maybe even the third time he asked I said no, but then I decided that he must be okay with me doing it and actually wanted me to, so I said yes!  I'm really glad I did because it was so fun!  I went really really slow-Rachel might have been able to crawl faster, but that's okay.  The best part was that Zane came out to tell us goodnight and saw me driving it and was surprised!  Thanks John for letting me drive your tractor and taking a video!  (I am pretty silly on it.)

I read something online about decluttering, so I'm trying to do that a little.  I'm adding more to our garage sale stack in the attic and went through papers that I've been hoarding forever.  I'm actually throwing away taxes.  Woohoo!  Told you I live an exciting life.

My Bible class is going great.  I'm trying to do New Testament lessons until September when two more little new two year olds come into my class.  Then I will start over with the Old Testament.  I'm excited about having them done and adding to them.  It should be fun!

Last night I made a new dish that I really like.  It's chicken, black beans, sweet potato, and corn with spices in a tortilla-makes a taco.  It's really colorful and tastes really good.  It's also a healthy choice.
If you'd like to check out the recipe, here it is!

Random picture.  Our peach tree always has a dragonfly on it.  This one wasn't very colorful, but the next time I looked at it, there was a bright purple one on it.  I guess I didn't have my phone with to take a picture.
The orange dot is a butterfly.  I actually stopped the car and got out to take a picture.  But it flew away and I couldn't get very close.
I've been running on the treadmill.  It is impossible to read while running, by the way.  I was trying to pass the time, but it just wasn't working.  I am happy though because I'm up to running 2 miles and cooling down for a 1/4 mile.

  1. A testimonial to the peach dessert. You must try it; just don't try to eat a whole one.
