Momma and Zane
Happy little guy.

Zane's got floaties on!

Someone got pretty tickled and silly!  I love this picture!

Teeny Tiny COOKIES!!!

I've seen this recipe before, but today I decided to try it!  It makes 48 mini cookies, each 1 pointplus each!  And they are delicious!!!  They were really fun to make.  If you want, you can find the recipe, here.
Itty bitty dollops of cookie dough!

Tasty bites!
Another thing I've been working on is altering a dress I bought.  I found a dress that didn't have sleeves and the top needed work, so I decided I would try to fix it with the pocket material!  It didn't work at first.  I put the sleeves in, but it didn't fit right.  So, it went in the closet for about a week until I decided to try again.  Here are the results.  Sorry about the bad pictures!

Saw this dress in the store today and took a picture for the before.

After

I hope I can try this again sometime soon!

Little Cousins

Amanda and I have been planning what we are going to do with our boys when we are able to get together!  One of them was getting matching outfits and taking pictures.  Well, I just could not wait.  A friend of ours gave our boys matching outfits, so here are the matching cousins!!!

Aren't they cute?!  Each has a toy!  One day, according to Amanda and me, they are going to be pen pals.  :)

Friday

I don't think I took any pictures of Zane yesterday, so I decided I better to that today because he is growing up before my very eyes!

He had a great day today.  We got to run around with his Daddy during lunch, he had fun reading his books and he had good food (chicken mixture, and pears)!

Aunt Amanda-can you please take a picture of Elliot in his matching outfit and send it to my Mommy?

Momma and Mr. Happy

Wanted to read instead of eat!

Zane was so snugly under the blanket, so I thought I would join him!

Also, happy 5 months to my nephew Elliot!  We love you!

Zane Laughing

Jeff does a GREAT job getting Zane to laugh.  It is so funny to watch!  He seems to be laughing more and more!

Creation Book

Zane got a new book in the mail today and his "thank you" video was too long to e-mail so here it is for the world to see!  Love you Grandma!

New Do

Zane got another hair cut on Saturday.  I sat out on the patio with him in a box and went to snipping.  When the box quit working (meaning he was getting wiggly), I put him in his bathtub.  It looked pretty good, but I wasn't pleased because I could see the scissor marks in his hair, so he got another one Monday with the clippers!  Buzzz, buzzz!  I was afraid he would be scared, but he wasn't and it looks much better.  Much more even!
The first pictures are after I cut it with scissors and the hide and seek video is after his second try.  :)

Zane eats applesauce!

I was going to say that this was Zane's first fruit, but he's been having prunes for a while now!  But, he did have his first taste of applesauce recently and he just thought it was wonderful.  It goes down so fast!
Enjoy watching for yourself!

Little Kitchen Companion

This afternoon I had a little kitchen companion with me while I baked!  He got to read books, sing with me, and play with his cool toys.  He also got to play with his measuring cup.  That was one of the few things that didn't make it to the floor.  But, given enough time, it would have eventually.
The abandoned play area near the kitchen.
Oh yeah, the new spot is where all the action is!
Coconut Macaroon Pie

Unbaked 9" pie shell
1/4 c chopped pecans
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c water
1 1/2 c sugar
1/4 c flour
1/4 t salt
1 1/3 c sweetened, flaked coconut
1/2 c butter or margarine, melted

Sprinkle pecans over bottom of pie shell.  Combine remaining ingredients; pour into pie shell.
Bake in slow oven, 325 degrees, until golden brown and almost set.  Mine takes 65 minutes.

Zane's First Camping Trip

We did it!!!!  We took Zane on his first tent camping trip!  We went Saturday morning to Lake Texana Campground.  We started off reserving space 101, but when we got there, we decided to look and see if there was one we liked better.  So, we found a really great space by the lake, 121 and went and changed it.  So, we get out and the wind is just whipping across the lake and it was cold!!!  So, we drove around and changed again!!  We ended up at space 80.  It was great.
Our spot.
We could still see the lake, but we also had some shelter provided by the trees.  Jeff picked a great spot for the tent and Zane and I watched while he set it up!
After he got that done, it was Zane's lunch time so I fed him in the tent!  It worked perfect.  Jeff put a tarp over the tent and then put the rain fly on.  After that, we had a picnic of pb & j sandwiches, chips, and sugar cookies by the truck out of the wind.  We were hungry!

Zane's outdoor playpen!
Entertainment while we ate!

Jeff started a campfire and it was wonderful.  I didn't think it would do good with the wind blowing, but it burned and gave off heat!
Zane took a nap and I whittled a stick while Jeff messed around some more with the firewood.

The perfect place to hide when running from the law.

Pretty red flowers on our site.

Whittling while Zane slept.
After Zane woke up and was fed, we took a walk around the park.  It was a lot of fun and a long way!
Ferns growing on the trees!  There were a lot like this.  Anyone ever seen them before?

Happy we didn't see any!  It may have been cool if I was off the ground!

On the fishing pier.  We saw a nice couple fishing, but they hadn't caught a thing!

The little spots in the water far away are coots!

The best little camper EVER!

We sang some around the campfire with Zane and then he got sooooo sleepy.  :)  I had made a little sleeping bag for him, unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of him in it, but I made it out of a blanket.  It kept him very warm, maybe too warm.
In his little sleeping bag.  He was so cute, he kept resting his head on my shoulder.  :)
Anyway, pretty soon, it was time get the time burgers ready!  We had scrumptious burgers and poppers with s'mores for dessert!  We also tried to have hot chocolate, but the water didn't get very warm.  We still drank it though!  At 8, Zane got up for his late supper and we sang some more songs around the beautiful campfire.  Zane COULD NOT take his eyes off the fire.  Jeff would say his name, make noises, and Zane would just stare at the fire.  He was mesmerized.  But, who isn't?  It is a cool thing to stare at.  We took showers in very clean "comfort stations" and went to bed!  This was the best sleep I've ever had in a tent by far.  I was warm enough, and Zane slept through the whole night.  Those were the good things.  The other things were that it rained, and the wind howled!  And Jeff happened to tell me about a camping trip that he had been on in the past that involved racoons, so I also envisioned racoons scratching on the tent which were actually leaves blowing against the tent.  But, I really did sleep pretty good!  In the morning, we got up, ate cheddar biscuits, packed up and went to church in Edna.  Then we came home.  We had a great camping trip and will be going again, I'm sure!
A cool green beetle if you can see it!

Tasty Toes

We had a great day today.   Both of us got a chuckle in church when we were standing and singing before the sermon and I caught Zane's hand just as he was about to grab a handful of hairsprayed hair from an elderly woman that didn't stand up in front of us.  It was close!  That would have been an awakening for her!

Goliad State Park

Today my family and I went day camping!  We've talked about going tent camping, but when it comes down to it, I chicken out.  So, today we packed up and spent a lot of the day down the road in Goliad State Park.  It was great!  I thought they would be busy, but they weren't at all.  The park rangers were so friendly and the hiking paths and picnic area were great!  We had a great time cooking hamburgers, watching Zane, and throwing the frisbee.  I also got to learn a lot about Texas history.  Goliad had the largest number of people killed for the cause of Texas Independence, hence the famous phrase, "Remember Goliad! Remember the Alamo!"
Cool tree that I saw while Jeff was checking in.  It had cactus growing on it.

Mission Espiritu Santo

Served the people for 110 years.

Getting ready to see the Mission.

Rock wall surrounding the Mission.

I didn't take many closeups because the statues were pretty scary looking.

On the hiking trail.

Carrying Zane up some stairs.  Jeff carried the stroller.

Pretty trail!
