Pickin'

This afternoon was the perfect day to get outside and pick pecans.  We were given some pre-cracked pecans from Jeff's dad, so we picked those (meaning get the shells off) inside, but now we are into the ones that we picked up, but didn't have cracked!  So, Jeff got to cracking them and then was the job of picking them!  Here I have a little helper!  He decided he was fussy in his stroller and just needed to be held.  I didn't get as many picked with him, but I must say, it wasn't a hardship to on tight to him.  :-)
What a precious little person!  I'd pick him any day!

What a setup!

Zane is supposed to be working on sitting up so I'm using his boppy to help him.  Well, he needs a little entertainment than that sometimes, so here he had lots to do!  His hands and feet were just a flapin'!

Toys within reach is a must!

Playing in our jammies this morning.  He is getting a lot more interested in his toys and does a great job grabbing for them.

Working on his trunk muscles for sitting up!
Zane got a card from his Bible Class teacher at church!  There are four teachers that rotate and they are really really wonderful.  They such a great job teaching him.
It was so encouraging to get this in the mail.
So, yesterday I must have had too much time on my hands, but you know the feeling you get when you need and really really want a change in hairstyle?  Well, yesteray I had HAD it!  I needed a haircut right then.  So, what to do?  You know, I think I can cut my own hair.  The internet should have some tips.  So, I googled it and sure enough, they even had videos!  Oh, I can do this!  No problem!  I had about 15 minutes before I had to go get Zane from his nap.  I got out my ruler and went to work.  Measuring down from my earlobes  just like they said to do it on YouTube.  Snip, snip, snip!  About two inches off.  Hmmm, I think I want it shorter!  So, snip snip snip I went and two more inches came off!  I got Zane, fed him, and then put him on the floor in the bathroom because after all, it's Wednesday night and I have to get my hair looking presentable!  So, Jeff calls, is on his way him and asks what Zane and I are doing.  Oooooh, wellllll, Zane is on the floor and I am cutting my hair!  "You're what?"  bahahahahahahah!  So, I went to church with a ponytail in and went to get my hair cut this morning.  It was hilarious listening to the girl cut my hair. I just had to come right out and confess.  Oh my...hmmmm...did you angle the ruler out when you did the front???  hahahahaha!    :)  So, this is my new do!
I don't think Zane knows quite what to think!

Mmm hmmm...like father, like son!  Snoozing away!

We had to bundle up to go get the mail!  It was like 60 degrees out!  :)

More Birthday Pictures

I can't believe it's been since Sunday since I've posted!  (Sorry, Mom!)  :-)

Here are some more birthday pictures that Jeff's dad took.  Thanks John!

Zane trying to watch the festivities.

Lots of goodies and a family picture!

That sure is a lot of candles.  They didn't put all of them either!

Probably the 5th or 6th breath.  I could not get the candles to go out!

It was a delicious cake.  Thank you so much for making my day special, Janie!

Birthday

We just had a wonderful weekend!  It is my birthday today and we just celebrated it all weekend.  What a wonderful family I have.  They are really a blessing and just so loving.  I got to spend it with my wonderful in-laws and also had a really wonderful conversation on the phone with my parents!  We are planning on seeing them in just a couple short weeks and are really excited about that.  Zane was so good this weekend and got lots of love from Jeff's parents.  Janie outdid herself with wonderful food (the Mexican lasagna was a hit with me!) and probably the largest chocolate cake I've ever seen.  Not a two layer cake, but three layers-all homemade!!!!  It was really delicious AND she sent the rest home with us!  Yummy!!  :)

We took a little drive on Saturday afternoon to see the Colorado river.  I had never seen it before and didn't know that it is a salt water river.  Interesting!  It was a really nice day for a drive and Zane really enjoyed looking out the window.  :-)

Practicing sitting up with "bumpers" as I pack for grandma's!

Love little Zane's hair standing up in the wind!  He was really cute in the wind.  He squinted his eyes until he got used to it!

At the Colorado River.  It wasn't windy or anything...

4 month check-up!

Zane went to visit the doctor today and he is a healthy baby!  He still can't roll over yet.  She said it's because he's a larger baby and it takes more to move his mass.  haha!  He's 26 inches long (80th percentile), weighs 15 lbs, 7 oz (55th percentile), and his head is 16 1/2 inches (31st percentile).  In other words, he's tall and skinny!  Although, I wouldn't know that by all this cute chubbiness!  :-)  He also had to get three shots and one vaccine by mouth.  Oh, he did so good.  He stopped crying right when I picked him up.  His poor little thighs are a sight with all his band-aids.  He goes in again for his 6 month check up in January!  I'm thankful for a healthy, healthy baby!  The next milestone we need to work on, in addition to rolling over, is sitting up!  My, he's really going to be a big boy then!  :)

Zane is just such a happy baby.  We made it through services yesterday with no problems!  I was really happy I didn't have to sweat about him making too much noise.  He was just happy, even with the time change!
In other news, my sister has been in the hospital since Wednesday.  I've been really scared for her and know how sad she must be feeling not being able to be with her sweet month old baby.  But, positive news today...they have figured out what's wrong.  She has a bacterial infection that is made up of three different bacterias which is why the antbiotics weren't totally working.  She still may have surgery ahead of her but hopefully not!  So, these blessings of information are from God, and this is one thing I am thankful for today!

This little boy just makes us smile so big!  I am thankful for him!  I am also thankful for all of our technology that we have to call overseas and see my family, travel over there, and I am thankful for wonderful medicine that can help so many people.  I am happy to be living in 2012!

I've been thinking a lot about what I'm thankful for today.  There are just so many things.  Mostly people, not things.  (Insert contented sigh here.)  My husband and son are the most wonderful boys in the world to me.  Jeff is my best friend, the one that I love being around, the one I can share anything with, my sweetheart.  He works long hours sometimes to provide for us, tonight being one where he has to be down South on the tip of Texas.  Our "little buddy" as we call him, is also such a blessing.  Tonight I got to listen to his breathing as he slept on my shoulder after his late evening feeding.  He brings such joy and I am so thankful that I am the one that gets to feed him and change him and cuddle him and just be his mom.  I hope that memory never fades.  I love both of them so much and am just thankful.

Happy!

I'm a happy little boy and God loves me!
God loves me!
God loves me!
I'm a happy little boy and God loves me!
I will learn to serve him faithfully.
