Sewing Project

I am attending a baby shower on Saturday and needed a gift.  I wanted to make something, but didn't know what to do besides bibs or a blanket.  I searched online and found this site that had a cool looking diaper changing pad/play mat.  I decided to give it a try.  It is pretty easy and this person did a great job on their tutorial.  I like it because it has four different sections when you are finished that can hold diapers, wipes, or whatever else you need.
All folded up.  I'm not sure about the elastic band I made.  It sort of looks like a hair scrunchy.  :)

Unfolded.
There is another girl at church that is going to have a baby girl, so I think I might see if I have enough fabric in my stash to make her one also.

This was my little buddy today.  He was sick with a fever.  I hope he feels much better tomorrow.
He needed lots of cuddles which we were happy to give.

I'll be the first to admit it...

I'm an inexperienced new mom.  I don't know everything and that's why I called the nurse this morning!  Yesterday, Zane had white drainage in his left eye and this morning it was yellow and all matted over.  Poor little guy couldn't see through the goop.  I thought he may have gotten it at church and that was probably going to be the last time anyone ever got to lay a finger on him.  Just kidding.  Sort of.  When the nurse finally called back, she said it sounded like a blocked tear duct, which come to find out is common among newborns.  So, after he wakes up from his nap, the poor little guy is going to have to surrender to me trying to gently rub the corner of his eye with a warm, wet, cloth.  I'm sure it will go exactly as I expect it with him flailing his little arms trying to get my hand away.  But, it's for his own good.  Oh, poor little thing.  I know it's just the beginning.  Other things are going to happen, but I sure don't want them to!  If I could have everything happen to me, that's going to happen to him, that would be just fine-I'd take it.
Snoozing away early this morning.
