I'll be the first to admit it...

I'm an inexperienced new mom.  I don't know everything and that's why I called the nurse this morning!  Yesterday, Zane had white drainage in his left eye and this morning it was yellow and all matted over.  Poor little guy couldn't see through the goop.  I thought he may have gotten it at church and that was probably going to be the last time anyone ever got to lay a finger on him.  Just kidding.  Sort of.  When the nurse finally called back, she said it sounded like a blocked tear duct, which come to find out is common among newborns.  So, after he wakes up from his nap, the poor little guy is going to have to surrender to me trying to gently rub the corner of his eye with a warm, wet, cloth.  I'm sure it will go exactly as I expect it with him flailing his little arms trying to get my hand away.  But, it's for his own good.  Oh, poor little thing.  I know it's just the beginning.  Other things are going to happen, but I sure don't want them to!  If I could have everything happen to me, that's going to happen to him, that would be just fine-I'd take it.
Snoozing away early this morning.

  1. Grace had blocked tear ducts. I liked using cotton balls more than a rag because they were little and disposable. I didn't like using a rag because I didn't want it to get contaminated and then stick it back in her eye. AND I didn't want to use 10 rags a day. So a cotton ball with warm water, wrung out, and jiggled in the corner of their eye a few times a day should do the trick.
