Good Life

We are all still alive! Things are going great in the Harris household. I'd like to be getting a little more sleep, but really, I'm doing pretty good. Zane is just busy doing everything and making messes in the process and Rachel eats and sleeps and swings. Life is good.

I sure love it when Jeff is home. After he's done with work, I've noticed that lots of times Zane wants to sing with him. He's still stuck on the number 64, but 64 ends up being all sorts of songs. I love hearing Jeff sing from the living room and get to sing with him while I get supper ready.

And speaking of supper, I am really enjoying our freezer meals. I don't have to stress at all about what I will cook. I end up with a pile of foil, but supper is ready! I think my favorite has been spaghetti amore, but not spaghetti, spirals. It was a hit with everyone.

A funny thing at the table last night. Zane was having to eat corn (poor thing!) and he started saying it was tasty. He said that for something else, I can't remember what right now, but Jeff whispered to me that he thought when Zane said it was tasty, he didn't like it! And I think that's true! Maybe someday "tasty" will be a compliment, but not right now! haha!

Right now our house is smelling like fall because there is a pumpkin pie in the oven. Zane wanted to look at my recipe box and I said sure. Well, good thing I only use a few at the front of the box because they have been sorted and put back! :)
I think I've mentioned it before that Zane likes to imitate Rachel some.  When she cries, he cries and before she came along, there was no way that he was going to be swaddled!  Well, guess what?  He does now!  :)  He loves the attention he gets from Dada.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Success!

We have had Zane sleeping in our room in his pack n' play since we brought him home because I was so worried that something would happen to him if he was away from us.  Well, it has been hard to sleep because he makes lots of croaking, squeaking, and other various noises when he sleeps.  Most of the time, I end up checking on him only to find his eyes closed and him asleep.  Last night we decided it was time to have him sleep in his own room.  The doctor recommended putting something under the mattress to angle it slightly to help with keeping his food down and so, at 3 weeks and 4 days old, he slept for the first time in his crib!  And it was great!  We have a video monitor in the room, so I was able to see him in our room and hear him.  I heard him at 2:30, went and fed him, put him to sleep again by 3:30, and while he did make a few noises after that, we both went back to sleep!  He woke up again at 7!  I am so happy that it was a successful night.  I thought I might end up sleeping in his room on the guest bed, but it didn't turn out that way!
He looked so little in his big crib!

Checking it out!

These next two pictures were taken at supper yesterday.  He was cold, so Jeff wrapped him loosely in a blanket and he just looked so cute, I had to take a picture!

3 weeks old!

Today our little Zane is 3 weeks old!  We got to go for a check up too and I was so pleased.  He is a very healthy baby.  He weighs 9 pounds, 13 ounces, and in the past two weeks, he's grown a whole inch!  He is 22 1/2 inches long!  I didn't know that was possible, but I guess it is.  Everything is looking good on him.  I am learning so much.  I didn't have a clue about babies, but our pediatrician is so nice and talked about several changes that may happen in the next couple weeks so that I wouldn't be alarmed.  Zane did okay for some of the time, and he cried rather loudly for the rest of the time.  We don't have to go back until he's two months old! Oh, and the best news of all is that I don't have to wake him to eat anymore!!!!  I don't know if that will change how many times I have to get up at night, but I sure am happy I don't have to set my alarm.

We also had our first solo outing to Kohls and Walmart today.  He slept the whole time except when we were coming home.  I was happy that I made it through.  It's a little intimidating-hopefully it gets easier.  It is so hot out there, so I'm happy to stay home.
