Ham and Cheese Muffins

I was looking online for some homemade toddler foods that would be good for Zane and came across this recipe for Ham and Cheese Muffins.  They were really easy to make and made 19 muffins!  They are not the sweet muffin that you are used too, but they are really good.  Zane likes them, although not as much as pear pancakes!
You can find the recipe here.

Weekend Visit

We had a really nice visit from Jeff's parents this weekend.  We are so glad they got to come and spend time with Zane and us!  Janie and I got to go garage sailing and John and Jeff fixed a leaf blower.  Janie made it so easy for me and brought wonderful delicious food so I didn't have to cook many meals.  And we've been eating leftovers today which is even better!  After Zane went to bed, we watched The Hobbit, and another night played cards.  It was a lot of fun.

Today I've been trying to get ready for our camping trip.  We leave on Friday and we're getting more and more excited.  I pretty much have our food ready, but I still need to get Zane some food.  He is not going to get all homemade food this next week.  I think I'll bring some pear pancakes and some toast sticks, but he'll get to try out some new things.

Zane is 13 months old today.

Reading a book with Grandma Janie before bedtime.
Visiting with Granddad.

More Grandma Janie time!
Garage sale find of the day.  A little camping chair for Zane.  They took 50 cents because it was broken and Jeff was able to fix it with a new carriage bolt.  Ta-da!

Walking

I wanted to get another video of Zane walking.  It seems like every hour he gets better and we can tell a huge difference just from yesterday.

Aunt Amanda, this one is for you!  :-)

Shoo Bop, Shoo Bop

I've been listening to 50's music on Pandora and love it!  The tunes are so catchy!  I really liked this one song...it goes something like, "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, go and make a pretty woman your wife, this is my personal point of view, if you want a girl to marry you."  That's what I THOUGHT it said.  Well, the other day, I started listening closely to the words!  I was so surprised to hear that's not what it says!  Today it came on again, so I googled the lyrics!  This is pretty funny.

If You Wanna Be Happy by Jimmy Soul
If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall.
As soon as he marries her
Then she starts to do
The things that will break his heart.
But if you make an ugly woman your wife,
You'll be happy for the rest of your life,
An ugly woman cooks her meals on time,
She'll always give you peace of mind.

Don't let your friends say
You have no taste,
Go ahead and marry anyway,
Though her face is ugly,
Her eyes don't match,
Take it from me she's a better catch.

Say man.
Hey baby.
Saw your wife the other day.
Yeah?
Yeah, she's ugly.
Yeah, she's ugly but she sure can cook.
Yeah?. Okay.

An UGLY WOMAN COOKS HER MEALS ON TIME?????  hahahahahaha!!!  From the fifties!!!  I guess he thought she should dress up and put a bow in her hair before he came home from work too!  hee hee!!

Enjoy your day!!!  :-)

Catch up

I've got video and pictures of a cute little boy!  These are from the last several days.
Zane has started doing several new things.  I shouldn't be surprised because he's growing so big, but I am amazed at how he's changing.
He can answer the question, "What does a cow say?"  and "What does a fish do?"  He is walking farther distances.  It seems like he gets better as the hours go on.  He's definitely not afraid to keep trying, that's for sure.  He's also started pointing at things, mostly ceiling fans!  But, he also points to cookies!  He definitely knows what a cookie looks like and he wants just a little bite, please??  :)
Hello!  I'm wearing my shoes!
We noticed that when Zane was in his bike trailer with his helmet on, his head was forced forward because there wasn't enough space between his head and the back of the trailer.  So, wonderful Jeff made him a pad that goes behind his back and makes room for his head!  He did a great job!
I wish I would have gotten a picture of him sewing!  :)

Trying it out!  Thanks Dad, that's better!

Zane loves sitting on Daddy's lap.
Love them.

Good Boy!

Family Bike ride

We enjoyed our first family bike ride yesterday evening.  We've had cooler temperatures with all the rain we've had and it was so nice, so we enjoyed it!  We rode on a nice bike trail-it was so wide we could ride comfortably side by side!  I think I'm less wobbly on my bike than I was when I first got it, but I still need practice before our trip.
Ready to ride!

Cool bike hauler!

Outside

We've had good chances of rain this week and have had lower temperatures because of that.  It has been really pleasant outside so we've been out and about.  So far today we've almost gotten an inch of rain.
Jeff was working on the bikes for our trip yesterday, so Zane and I went to keep him company.  It was fun!

Preparations!!!

I sort of jokingly asked Jeff last week if we could go on a trip to New Mexico on vacation.  He responded with a yes!  And you get to plan it!  I am NOT a planner, but decided okay!  As I was planning, I wasn't really happy with the scenery we would be seeing-I wanted it to be spectacular!  It was already going to be 14 hours of driving and for that much time, I thought it should really be great.  I changed the destination to include a place only four hours longer.

Where we are going, it would be nice if we had some bikes to ride around in.  I went garage sale shopping and couldn't believe it, but I found a bike trailer for Zane and a bike for me!  Both were great bargains!
Don't you think this will be great?  I need to make sure Jeff is in front.  :)
My new bike in the trunk!

JUST KIDDING!!!  The new bike IS actually in the trunk of our car, but it's the not bicycle built for two that I saw at another garage sale!  :)  Did I fool anyone?  Too bad it's not April!  :-)

Daddy did a great, great job getting Zane to wear his helmet.  They even went and looked in the mirror when Zane was uncertain and Zane came out smiling!!

Cutie pie!!

Zane is going to wear this helmet in the trailer.

Bike Trailer

He looks so little in it!

I haven't gotten a good picture up close of my new bike, but I will try to soon.  I need to ride a little to get used to riding again.  They say you never forget, but I know from this afternoon that you can get a little wobbly!
Tent preparations!

We're going camping by one of the seven wonders of the world...the Grand Canyon!

I love these two so much.  Zane is such a good boy, and Jeff a great Daddy to him.  Thank you God for my blessings!

Five blooms today!

Waffcakes!

Tonight was breakfast night and I didn't have enough pancake mix, so I added the rest of the waffle mix to them!  They smelled like waffles, but were cooked like pancakes.  And I added blueberries!  Pretty good!  No pictures either because who really cares about them?!  haha!  Where's the post about Zane??

Oh, Zane BIT himself!  He has teeth marks on his arm.  Two on top, and two on bottom.  I hope he doesn't do that again!

And now for the Zane videos!

Saturday Morning Happenings

Zane and I got to watch while Jeff worked hard getting the orange stump out.
Friday night, all clean and snuggly!

Starting to dig in the morning sunshine!

Watching the show!

Watching the anemometer!

I'm thirsty!

All done!

Good job Jeffy!

Waiting for his daddy to jump and cool off in the freezing cold pool.

Most of the trees that the previous owner planted are now gone!  Only some of the Sago palms, and Indian Hawthorne bushes remain.

Happy 4th of July!!

Last Year:
 This Year:
We had a fabulous, relaxing, 4th of July celebration this year with our little family.   Jeff came home last week with an inflatable pool, so we have been putting it to good use!  Today, we stayed outside most of the day, getting in and out of the pool and Jeff cooked hamburgers on the Old Smokey.  They were so tasty.  When Zane got up from his nap at 4, he got to go in the pool!  He had to come out once and warm up because his little chin was shivering.  If you are wondering how to beat the heat in Texas, a pool is the way to go.  A slight breeze on wet skin will cool you right down.  After he warmed up, we decided to try it again and keep the top of him pretty dry.  This seemed to work well.  He loved splashing and moving through the water.  It was a lot of fun!
Enjoy the pictures!
Grass!  He was a little lawnmower!

Yay for summer fun!

Daddy and Me

So cute in his little swimmers.

1 Year Wellness Check

Zane had his one year wellness check yesterday.  He is a healthy boy!  His soft spot on his head is about the size of a dime and she said that it will close between now and 18 months.  He weighs 20 pounds, 6 ounces (15th percentile), is 30 inches long (58th percentile), and his head is 18 1/2 inches around.  She seemed happy with everything.  He had to get two shots.  One was to finish up meningitis vaccinations, and the other was one of two for hepatitis A.  He did so good.  He cried but it didn't last long!

Just so busy!
