Annual Blueberry Picking!

One of our best times is blueberry picking with Jeff's parents!  Today we got up super early and beat most of the crowd at Moorhead's Blueberry Farm!  We got there around 6:50 am!  And since we've been there before, we headed to the biggest, sweetest blueberry bushes in the patch.  I can't tell you where they are, it's a secret.  Just kidding.  Not really.  :)

Rachel latched on to her Daddy early on!

Off we go!!!

Uff da, already needs pickups.

Blueberry testers!

This guy did great.  He ate soooo many blueberries he just might turn blue!

She picked here and there and everywhere!

Blueberry Picking!!!!

This year we got to go on our yearly blueberry picking excursion to Conroe!  Moorhead's Blueberry Farm is such a great place to pick and eat.  It had been raining and it was a little sloshy getting there on the dirt road, but we made it just fine!  It probably helped that I was weighing down the suburban on the back seat!  haha

We picked a lot of blueberries.  Not as many as last year, but I actually think these blueberries were better than two years ago when we went.  They were sweeter and bigger!

Donuts for Rachel for Breakfast on Saturday

Got there early!

One in the bucket, one in the mouth.  Or two, or three.  :)

Full mouth!

I think this might be my favorite from this weekend.  :)

Spring Creek BBQ

I think these beds are really nice.  Black mulch with river rock edging.

Thought that was nice.

Blueberries!!!

Today was an adventure to the blueberry fields near Houston!  I say adventure because we left at 6:04 am and after a stop at a donut place (thanks, Jeff!) we got to Moorhead's blueberry farm at about 6:40 am.  There were lots of people already there but we got a great parking spot and buckets with ropes that can go around your neck.  They were supposed to open at 7 but we were happy they were already open and people were picking!  We picked and picked and ate and ate.  Except Jeff because he was full from his apple fritter!  What a great time.  Zane did great and only fussed a couple times.  One time after fussing for a minute, I picked him up and picked blueberries at the same time. He actually picked two blueberries and put them in my hand!
All said and done, Jeff and I picked 17.11 pounds and John and Janie picked a huge amount too.  I am really really excited about blueberry muffins, crisp, pancakes, breads, pies, and I think I'm going to try and make some blueberry syrup for my sister when she comes to visit!  She always liked it.
On the way out at 9 am, it was crazy.  There were gobs of people trying to get in but a few people had parked really badly and it would only allow for one car to go in or out at a time.  We were thankful we went early and really didn't have that much trouble going out, we just felt sorry for the people that were having to walk really far because of some people that parked badly.
I was surprised but there must have been hundreds and hundreds of bushes, if not maybe a thousand, and even though there were so many people you weren't even close to picking on top of each other.  It was fun to listen to other peoples conversations, hear the blueberries dropping into the buckets, and see the little children gathering blueberries.  One little girl was putting them in the bucket one berry at a time.  Maybe next year that'll be Zane!
Enjoy the pictures!
