March has been a breezy but beautiful month! It started off chilly as you can see at the end of my last post, but covering the loquat has paid off because we have beautiful ripe loquats to eat now.
We had a very laid back Springbreak. Rachel and I had coughs associated with allergies and we just didn't feel like going anywhere. Mom came down while Jeff went turkey hunting and we tried to have fun, but mom was also coughing and we just needed to rest.

Here's Rachel playing with my petite ponies from when I was a young girl. I thought just for fun I'd look on ebay to see if I could add to our collection. Nope! People on there think they are worth their weight in gold. They are not. :) |
This was near the beginning of March after the cold spell. Lots of loquats. |
Taking a ride in Jeff's new pickup! |
I really like amaryllis'. I should plant more. |
Blooms on our Indian Hawthorne. Hopefully it will grow by leaps and bounds this year. |
We had a paper wasp nest up in the tree, but it has since fallen down. More pictures to come. |
Grandma Janie came to visit us for a night at the beginning of Springbreak. We enjoyed having her! |
Rest of the wasp nest. |
Both kids love reading Star Wars books. I'll take it! |
Tried my hand at making italian bread for muffalettas. Turned out pretty good. |
Pizza at the windy windy windy park with Grandma D. This did not help our allergies. :) |
They made each other a name picture. Awwww. |
She had to do school by me in the kitchen. |
Acorn man! |
Blowing bubbles |

Blowing bubbles at the chickens. :) |

This is the life...for one second. |
Weird moth, butterfly I saw outside our garage door. |
It had really fuzzy antenna. |
I love her so much! She has this mobile hanging on her door. |
I'll just climb this wall while reading star wars. |
All of the sudden, Rachel had a fever! I was soooo worried it might be the flu, but it was gone in the morning. Whew! And weirdly, she had fevers in both ears but not on her forehead. |
Zane and dada went to Wednesday night Bible class without us girls. This handsome fellow dressed up so spiffy for it! |
Trying out putting in his hands in his pockets with his suitcoat on like he sees other men doing. He thinks that's pretty great. |
We made a spur of the moment decision to go and visit Grandma D again last weekend and for Jeff to look around for turkeys. I decided I was going to not ask the neighbor to check the chickens because he's not getting around too much so I heaved and pulled this chicken addition around to see if it would work. It did! |
Our pinion has new growth! |
Happy with the chicken condo. |
And then, off to Leakey after Jeff worked all night long. I drove, he slept for half the trip...
Any tracks? No, just hogs or deer. |
Pruned peach trees are looking great. |
Here comes the girls! |
Both had a magnifying glass to look at rocks with. |
Zane in his fort! |
Zane decided he wanted to go with us on an adventure, so off the four of us went, leaving Dada to do his work.
Posing by a huge pinion that had blown over a little. |
So thirsty for delicious spring water! |
Love you Mom! |
During our time at the spring, we went up farther to look for a little cactus I wanted. Sadly and surprisingly, some trespassers came along on the road. My mom is the bravest person I know. I stayed with the kids and she faced three men with a firearm by herself. She did so good. They turned around and went back over the mountain. We are pretty sure that they have been making numerous trips onto her property without permission. So, Jeff and I drove to the top of the mountain where the fence was supposed to be (the guy lied and said he didn't see it-there is no way you could miss it) and sure enough it was there. Jeff is so awesome-he got to work trimming a little and then we stretched barbed wire across where the gate should have been and put two metal posted signs up. Hopefully they will respect that and won't come back.

With a t-post right in the middle of the road! He did a good job! |
And for good measure, Jeff put old cedar stumps behind the gate. |
Two little cacti in the middle of the picture. |
Pretty blooming cactus. |
Soooo tired on the way home. |
I woke her by telling her it was time to eat and she woke up smiling! :) :) :) That's my girl! |
Bad picture but field of bluebonnets |
Humongous church being built at the place where 9 people were killed in a Baptist church last year in Southerland Springs |
One of Rachel's worksheets-I thought her drawings were great! |
Loquats ripening! |
Eight eggs waiting when we returned from Leakey! |
