Z-Z-Zucchini Muffins!
We are still working on z's this week. And today we made zucchini muffins, Zane's favorite. This homeschooling is definitely eye opening. Some things I am so surprised at because I think it will be easy peasy for Zane, but it's not. We've been practicing writing z's and it's just not easy! I thought-three lines-it should be easy, but it's a challenge! And I also know that that's normal. Just need some deep breaths! haha! Also, I made a quick math activity out of an egg carton where he had to look at a number and count out that many pegs and put it in the egg carton. He was able to do up to five, but all the rest of them were wrong! Again, I was surprised! So, I finally figured out he was looking at the number, like 8, and then counting on from 8. That will be a game we will be doing again in the future! I don't know why I am surprised. He's never done activities like these before and he's just in Pre-K! haha! We, all of us, are learning lots through this journey.
The kids love to cook and bake and for the first time ever, I sent both Zane AND Rachel over to the neighbor's house with a note and two warm zucchini muffins. Rachel was so uncertain and would walk while looking behind at me, causing her to go off course and zigzag all the way over there. But, I thought it would be good for them to do a good deed and be a good neighbor. I didn't last long-I had to go over and get them pretty quickly. :) But they had a good 30 minute visit. When I went in, our neighbor told me they were having a milk party! And my kids had eaten some of their muffins! haha! Next time I need to send enough for all of them. :)
Enjoy the pictures!

Z-Z-Zoo!
I can't believe in a town of 60,000 people there is a zoo, but there is! And we got to visit today and Jeff came with us! They have moved some animals around since the last time we were there and have some new animals too. The lionesses have been moved to a new exhibit, and two jaguars have taken up residents where the lions used to be! I was scared as always to go up to the cage, but Jeff was with us so I figured I could do it. After we got home, he said he didn't think the jaguar's cage looked very secure!! That's what I thought when the lions were in there! I keep reminding myself that they haven't gotten out yet! The jaguars were really really pretty and really big up close. We weren't able to see the tiger. He/She wasn't out in her exhibit, but we did see so many different animals. There were maybe three or four other people that we saw in the whole zoo, so we chose a great day, plus the weather was in the 70's this morning!
I quizzed the family members about their favorite animal when we got home. Jeff's favorite was the otter. It really put on a show for Zane and Rachel and Zane was able to walk beside it while it swam. Zane's favorite was the jaguar, Rachel's favorite was the birds. There were peacock's walking around and she got to feed them and she said that she loved them. :) She's just a little sweetie, even to the birds. I think my favorite was these little tiny monkeys that have a name, but I can't remember it. They were jumping and swinging and having a good time.
We had a great field trip!

In the snake den! YUCK! But they had lots and lots of snakes! It was pretty cool! |
Full of rattlesnakes! And one was rattling! Jeff was trying to talk Zane into going into a tunnel and coming up into the dome inside the snake exhibit. |
They both did it!!! Yay for Zane taking a chance and doing it! Grandma D- you would have loved it for sure. hahaha |

Trying to get her to say cheese but she was too busy. |
This was cool-they had a "little red caboose" there. Kids loved it. It may have been their favorite because they climbed the stairs again and again. |
"I love him" said Rachel to the peacock. |
They had two bald eagles! |
I'm here! |
Dad got the food this time. I did at the fish and a bunch of ants came out with the food! Yummy. |
Learning how to feed their new friends. |
Up they go again! |
One more visit to Jax, the Jaguar! |
Another visit to the birds! Daddy feeding the duck! |
