Learning About the Bible

I have been SO BAD lately about doing a devo with the kids.  I love doing it, but one is tired, one needs a bath, and on and on it goes.  So, yesterday we did it earlier and it worked out great.  Rachel paid more attention too because she wasn't about to fall asleep!

Zane likes selecting a lot of what we are going to do.  We've started doing "This is the World that God Made" a felt little rhyme or story, I don't actually know which, and Rachel really is drawn in and pays attention.

I decided to see if Zane could sing the books of the New Testament by himself and he pretty much can-one correction, but he did good.  Of course he doesn't understand what the books mean or anything, but understanding will come.

I got my Bible, Mom!  :)  Actually I think she tries to say Bible sometimes, but it comes out BaBa.

Project Save the Loquat

This heat is taking a toll on our trees!  And we haven't been watering the beloved loquat and it started dying!  So we watered it slowly all night and thankfully the leaves perked back up.  Yesterday we ate a bit early and Zane and Dada fixed it all up by removing the grass and putting landscape fabric down to prevent weeds and covered it in mulch.  It is much happier now.

Rah, rah, go Daddy and Zane!

Hard, hot work!  But thanks Dada and Zane for saving the tree!!!

Us in Our Life

Rachel thought she hit the jackpot when she discovered the pantry.  Especially when there was a big box of Cheerios on the floor.  She recognizes that brand already!  And now I have to keep the pantry door shut because she likes to get the cans off the shelves too!

Two bottom teeth now!

He decided that icing IS good and proceeded to eat all of it off and leave the cake.  haha!

On a hot walk with their ice waters.  It sure gets hot quick down here in the mornings!

Just like Uncle T!

Cantaloupe picture taken a few days ago!  We now have four growing!

Pretty girl with teeth!

Rachel is a born leader.  Everyone wants to follow in her steps.  :)

Go Daddy, go!

Entertaining the kids after worship Sunday.

Just some ads for lawn equipment laying around that Zane likes to look at.  Some kids like toy catalogs, but ours is happy with a flyer in the mail.  :)

In a nest watching a new to us Clifford video.

The ad never gets old!

Playing together.

Trying to get Rachel to do some tricks:

This one might be the longest I've ever done. They were playing while I was vacuuming and I was hearing lots of screeching and giggling. It was so fun that they were playing together.

Dress Like a Cow

Tuesday was "dress like a cow, get free food" at our local Chick-fil-a!  I almost never go to Chick-fil-a, but I love it and so I thought it might be fun.  Jeff was going to be gone overnight, so it would give me something fun to do with the kids!  At least it was supposed to be fun.  It was fun when we got there.  Zane threw a humongous fit because he didn't want to wear shorts and I gave it and just put spots on his pants.  And they still gave us free food even though they weren't black or white.  Zane does not like to try new things especially when he doesn't know what's going on.  We talked about it again later though and he said he had fun so I tried to reinforce that things can be fun even though we haven't tried them yet.  And I was happy with myself because I didn't just give in and not do it.  That would definitely been the easy thing.

Chick-fil-a is really a nice fast food restaurant.  They have fresh flowers on all the tables and because it was a special even, the kids got free little stuffed cows, we got free pencils, Zane got a book with his kids meal and our food was 100% free.  Nice, I think.

Here we are having a good time:
Yum!  Chicken nuggets!

Cutie #1!

Cutie #2!

On the way out, there was a friendly cow mascot and I was afraid that Zane would be scared of it so I made sure to stop and ask him to say hi which he did.  But the way he talked about it on the way home, I'm thinking he may have thought it was a real cow!

I'm hoping we can do this again next year and that Jeff will join us!  It's much easier taking the kids someplace with two parents, but Zane was really a great help and a good listener.  He wheeled Rachel's high chair all the way across the restaurant for me!  And next time, Rachel can eat chicken nuggets too!

4th of July

I thought this was funny. Lots of people put cute pictures of their kids on facebook. So I tried to get one to do the same. As you can see, it didn't really go as planned. :) :) :)

This one would have been a contender, but one is blurry:
Oh well!  Hope everyone had a great holiday!
