Learning All The Time

Zane is really starting to talk and respond.  It is just so fun and really amazing to me.  Just all of the sudden he starts doing/saying things.  It's really amazing how that works.  It might be the neatest thing yet in parenting.
Guess how many chocolate chips it took to make this mess?  One!
Yesterday, just yesterday he starting answering yes! to questions.  It started off in the morning.  When I get him up, we usually rock and snuggle and hug.  I asked him, "Do you like hugs?"  A little voice said, "yes."  Oh, melt my heart into a puddle.  You can bet he got lots of hugs and pats and rocks.  Just throughout the day, I'd ask him questions and he'd answer yes!  He was already answering no-alot, but it was just so cool to hear him answer for himself.  This morning I asked him, "Are you drinking your milk?"  "Yes!," he said, as he reached for his cup.  It shouldn't be surprising, I guess, but it is.

Here he is playing with his dump truck.

This morning, I got out a book he hasn't read in weeks.  It's called Opposites, by Sandra Boynton.  I started reading and we got to the page that has a snail and he said slow.  I was like, what?  You're kidding me.  So, I read the page and sure enough, when we got to the snail, he said "slow."  So we kept reading it and he would put the correct words in there without being told, and I went to check the muffins and had it opened to the page that says hot, cold, and he said it without me at all!  I know that is how kids start reading, by memorizing, but I just didn't know when it was going to happen.  My mom even told me about us learning to "read" before we were two, but I just for some reason, didn't think Zane was ready.  I was really shocked and oh so proud.
Zane loved being on Jeff's head and looking out the window.
Another thing that Zane did yesterday was count to four.  Just last week he could count to three, but I didn't know how long it would take to add on to that.  Well, he can do it!  All by himself.

He is now 20 months old.  This year has gone so much faster than the first.  In just four short months, he will be 2!

I know this sounds like a braggy post, and I don't mean it to be.  If you think that, just remember that this is a journal and record for me.  :)  And I am sooo proud of him.  He is just a blessing and a joy.
