Grand Canyon Camping Pictures

We had a great time at the Grand Canyon for our vacation!  Jeff and I were so amazed at the vastness of the Grand Canyon.  It is incredible!  I can't adequately describe it.  It is a mile deep, and ten miles wide.  Huge!  We left our home Friday after Jeff got off work, drove to Fort Stockton.  We got there about 12:30 am and put Zane straight to bed!
Happy traveler dressed in his jammies!

Pretty Texas sky.
Texas sunset.
Handsome driver.
The next day we drove to Gallup, NM.  We stayed at an RV Park in a camping cabin there.  It was really neat and worked out great!  We got to ride our bikes around the park, use their sparkling clean bathrooms, and eat at Cracker Barrel.
Little Buddy sleeping on the way to Gallup.

At USA RV Park with a little explorer!

Outside our camping cabin and having a great time!

First time playing in the rocks.  He loved it and wouldn't look at the camera for a picture! He was too busy!
The next morning we decided to get up at our regular Texas time and drive 2 1/2 hours to go to church in Flagstaff, AZ.  They don't change their time, so they are two hours behind us.  It worked out great!  After church, we ate at a diner and made our way through Ponderosa Pines to the Grand Canyon!

Signs for the Grand Canyon in Flagstaff!!!!
Thanks to the nice lady for taking our picture!

Tried to get a pic of the gas sign.  $4.09, I think!
After we got to the campground, we set up camp and let Zane play!  He had a blast!!!

Oh boy!  Pinecones!

Collecting rocks!

Spreading the tarp

Busy boy getting his footing.

A tent!

My first view of the Grand Canyon.  It was in the evening and was hazy, but still breathtaking.

Cows and calves we saw on the way back to our campsite.
Little Blue Eyes Monday morning.
We got up early Monday morning after a hard night with Zane.  It was chilly too!  The weather really was wonderful though.  It was dry and cool.  Highs during the day were in the 80's and lows probably in the 40's.  It felt so good.  We did a strenuous bike ride from our campground up to Hermit's Rest.

Colorado River.  Looks pretty muddy, doesn't it?

Taking a break.

Hermit's Rest!  We made it!

Playing in the dirt after we got "home."

Face plant!  And just as happy as can be!!!  Probably so happy to get out of the bike trailer!!

Evening sky.

I had so much fun cooking.  I tried out my new Coleman oven and it worked great.  The first thing I baked was cookies and I burned the bottoms.  But, after moving the rack up to the middle, the biscuits turned out great!

Sleepy Boy after a good night's sleep!

So thankful he could sleep!!

Hello little fellow!

See the little guy on the edge of the Grand Canyon?

On the way to the Grand Canyon store to get souvenirs!
We ended up coming home after our time at the Grand Canyon was done instead of going on to Sedona.  Things don't always go as planned with a one year old, but Jeff has convinced me that it was not a disaster!  :)  We did have a great time and we had a good time on our way home too.  We stopped by the Petrified Forest and saw some tree rocks.  We also made a detour through Riudoso, NM and ate lunch.  It is so pretty!

Petrified tree.

Somewhere in the park we lost one of Zane's shoes.  Not here, because he's got them both on!

Awww.

Eating a picnic lunch at the park.

Diaper stop and a blimp baby!!!!!  Wheeee!!!
