Day 3-Moose and Mallards!

Monday-what a great day we had today!  The kids were up eeeeaaarrrly!!!  :)  We had pancakes for breakfast and the kids got to pour their own syrup, a big deal to them, and we drove to an overlook and took a path around.  I thought for sure we would be swimming, but Zane changed his mind and it was set to going on a hike.  What a beautiful day!  And gorgeous views.  Rachey was so involved in taking pictures with her camera and Zane loved his new walking stick.

She has so much business.

Lake Dillon

Zane wanted to bring all his stuff.  Binoculars, etc.

Love them!

A picnic table means snack time!

A sail boat.
After this we went to a near by Walmart and got some cold stuff-then had to go to Safeway to get fresh vegetables and fruits.  Walmart didn't carry them!

After lunch we spent an hour in the swimming pool!  So many giggles from the kids-everyone had fun.  The water was a little cool so we stayed about an hour.  Then everyone needed more snacks after all the swimming!

Snacks and a discussion about redfish because of Daddy's shirt.

Discussion continues and Rachey has a milk mug!

We found five star wars puzzles at the condo!  Working on our first one.

We were walking back toward our condo but wanting to continue on the path when a runner turned around and came back to us.  There was a moose directly ahead and he was nice enough to let us know.  He didn't know if it was friendly or not, and we turned around because we didn't want to get too close.

A moose!
We went a different direction and crossed the Snake River that goes right behind our condo a couple times.  It is really moving.

Mr. and Mrs. Mallard!

Watching the ducks!

The moose had moved even closer to our condo!  I was really hoping it would come even closer so I could take pictures from our balcony, but it didn't.

Finished!  (only 125 pieces) Rachel did a great job though and really seemed to like doing it.  Zane likes to swoop in as we are nearly done and put a few in.  :)

Zane really really really wanted a fire in the fireplace so Daddy said yes.  It was cool outside and it was pretty to watch it.  Rachey didn't like it at first, but she came around.

 Until next time!

Day 1 and Day 2 Colorado Vacation!!!!!!!

Woo hoo!  Back to Colorado we go!  The kids LOVE Colorado and we LOVE Colorado.  We've been talking about it since probably before January when we made the reservations for our condo!  This time we are in North Central Colorado!!!!  Let me tell you, the trip here was much more scenic than last year.  We went up to Amarillo-a very nice town-spent the night there-had a huge rain storm, but thankfully no hail.  The kids were scared because it was so loud and so was I!  I almost climbed into bed in between them so we could all huddle together!  They had a hard time getting to sleep in the hotel room, especially Rachel.  She was up so late.  We had a lovely breakfast.  Zane had three little waffles, Rachel had cheerios and YOGURT which she loves and orange juice and milk which she also loves.  :) :) :)  I had my favorite really unhealthy hotel breakfast.  Buttered bagel toasted and then topped with cream cheese!  It is the best.  And of course yogurt because Rachel was eating hers and I needed one too.  And Jeff had cereal and apple juice.  :)  Then we drove two hours up the road and crossed into New Mexico!!!

This area of New Mexico was alot more beautiful than the desert we went through last year.  Plus, they must have had a lot of rain because it was so green!

Happy happy travelers!  They watched so much Star Wars they can quote it, much to my dismay!  hahahaha.  I thought I would never allow my children to watch a movie so much they can quote it.  But when you've got a cast on and a road trip, you let them watch it!  :)  When they are happy, I'm definitely happy.

Entering Colorado...and BOOM!  Mountains with snow! Our first view!

 I really like wind turbines.
First time through Pueblo I think.  I really liked it for some reason.

Some kind of gravel mill maybe?
 A prison!
 And another!
Thought it was neat to see where the road would be closed because of snow.

 This was a neat river.
Picture for Jeff!  He'd like to kayak it.  Sounds good to me!

 Fair play, CO

Hossier Pass.  There is still lots of snow!  The kids were so excited.  We didn't get to stop because it was late, but we will see plenty of other mountain passes, I'm sure and maybe even this one again.  There was lots of traffic on this road-people leaving to go back to Denver.

Switchbacks but not as bad as last year.  These weren't sheer cliff edges and had guard rails!  Jeff was happy!

I bet that water was so cold!

Entering Breckenridge.  No offense to anyone that likes these kinds of towns.  It was super busy-similar to Telluride last year but way bigger.

I believe this is Dillon Reservoir!

I am sure I will put pictures of our home away from home soon as we go along, but I only have a couple right now.  The kids have had their baths and are tucked into bed.  I didn't hear a peep from them.  They were so tired.
I am super excited.  We brought frozen meals up here to save on eating out time and money.  We brought it in dry ice and maybe had two pounds left and everything was still frozen.  It was awesome!  I am so relieved it worked and excited too!
The condo has a washer and dryer!  Relief for me!  I'm excited to use it if we need it!

View from the balcony!

Jeff is so happy.  He has claimed this spot and maybe even wrote his name on it.  He said he would be happy there for the whole two weeks, but we know we won't be letting him do that!!!  We've got things to do and see!
Until tomorrow!
